Chelsea continue to struggle in Premier League

Chelsea's hopes of retaining the English football Premier League title look forlorn, with the defending champions losing one-nil at Wolverhampton Wanderers to drop to fifth place.

Manchester City remain in second spot with a nil all draw at Arsenal, while Liverpool slumped to a three-one loss at Blackburn Rovers.

Tottenham Hotspur wasted the chance of the strengthening their place in the top four losing 2-1 at Everton while West Ham returned to the foot of the table after being thrashed five-nil at Newcastle United.

Aston Villa slipped into the bottom three beaten one nil by Sunderland.

Wigan Athletic also remain in relegation trouble after drawing one all with Bolton Wanderers.

Manchester United lead the table with 44 points from 20 games with City on 42 having played two games more.

Arsenal are third with 40 from 21 and Tottenham have 36, one point better than Chelsea.
