The former Arrows Formula One team boss and Gloucester rugby club chairman Tom Walkinshaw has died at the age of 64.

Walkinshaw, who had been suffering from cancer, enjoyed success with Jaguar in sportscars and at Le Mans, which TWR Jaguar won in 1988 and 1990.

He then joined the Benetton team as director of engineering and brought with him Ross Brawn.

The no-nonsense Scot was also instrumental in signing the young Michael Schumacher from Jordan after the German's impressive 1991 debut at Spa.

Walkinshaw also had a Holden team in Australia's V8 Supercar championship.
