Bart to attend the Melbourne Cup

The Australian racing legend Bart Cummings says he expects to be at Flemington on Tuesday as he attempts to win the great race for the 13th time.

The 82-year-old Cummings was released from a Melbourne hospital on Sunday after being admitted last Wednesday night with a recurrence of a respiratory condition and he missed the lead-up win of his new superstar So You Think in Saturday's Mackinnon Stakes.

So You Think will jump from barrier three and is favourite for the Cup ahead of last year's winner Shocking who has the outside gate in the 24-horse field.

Cummings firmly believes So You Think can win at Flemington, where officials are optimistic the track will be okay for the big race despite more than 60 millimetres of rain falling over the weekend.
