Spain's Jorge Lorenzo has clinched his maiden MotoGP world title with a third-place finish at the Malaysian Grand Prix.
The 23-year-old took few risks as he needed only a top-10 finish to win the title with three rounds to spare.
After starting on pole position Lorenzo took few risks, easing off with two laps remaining and pulling a wheelie over the finish line.
Lorenzo's Yamaha team-mate and outgoing world champion Valentino Rossi, who missed a large chunk of the season due to injury, put in a vintage performance to win the race ahead of Italian compatriot Andrea Dozivioso on a Honda.
