White Ferns off-spinner Flora Devonshire has been ruled out of the Women's Cricket World Cup with a hand injury.
Devonshire, who earned her maiden inclusion in a World Cup squad, sustained a laceration to her left hand when fielding during training and is expected to take two-to-three weeks to heal.
Right-arm pace bowling all-rounder Hannah Rowe has been called into the squad to replace Devonshire.
Rowe brings with her 60 ODI caps of experience and will be attending her third one-day World Cup.
Head coach Ben Sawyer said it was disappointing to lose Devonshire.
"We're all feeling for Flora. She worked hard to earn her spot in this squad and it's a real shame her tournament is ending early."
Sawyer said Rowe brings considerable experience to the squad.
"Hannah's obviously not a like-for-like replacement for Flora, but she offers an all-round skillset and has experience in sub-continent conditions."
Rowe is set to assemble with the squad on 7 October in Indore before travelling with the group to Guwahati.
The White Ferns play South Africa in their second World Cup match on 6 October.
