Rangers draw with Man U

Manchester United have been held to a frustrating nil-all draw by Glasgow Rangers in their opening European Champions League Group C match at Old Trafford.

The three-times European champions, who made 10 changes from the team which drew 3-all with Everton in the Premier League at the weekend, dominated possession but lacked the creativity to break down the massed Scottish defence.

Inter Milan began the defence of their crown by taking the lead and then coming from behind to draw 2-all at Dutch side FC Twente.

Lionel Messi netted two superb goals, had a penalty saved and twice rattled the woodwork as Barcelona romped to a 5-1 comeback victory over Greek champions Panathinaikos in Spain.

Tottenham Hotspur let a 2-goal lead slip in germany as they drew 2-all with Werder Bremen in their Champions League debut.
