The Wellington Phoenix continued their climb up the A-League soccer table with an upset 1-nil win away yesterday over the Central Coast Mariners.
A headed goal by defender Karl Dodd proved decisive in a scrappy match to extended the Phoenix's unbeaten run to three games following a draw with Newcastle and win over Sydney FC.
With the top teams Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney all missing chances to take the outright lead, the Phoenix are within a point of the top four, and the table has become so compressed the last-placed Perth Glory, who upset Sydney yesterday, are only one win away from the top four.
