Latest - Yvette McCausland-Durie will return to the Central Pulse as head coach for next year's national netball premiership.

McCausland-Durie stepped down following a four-year-stint last season after guiding the Pulse to four successive finals series and back-to-back titles.

Anna Andrews-Tasola, who is also the Pulse specialist shooting coach, will be McCausland-Durie's assistant coach.

McCausland-Durie takes over from Gail Parata, who who leaves the job by mutual consent after being at the helm for the 2021 season.

Missing Silver Ferns shooter Ameliaranne Ekenesio - pregnant with her second child - the Pulse won only four games this season and finished fifth overall.

Netball Central director of high performance Wai Taumaunu will continue in her role as specilaist defence coach with the Pulse.

Ocon wins chaotic Grand Prix

Frenchman Esteban Ocon raced to his maiden Formula One win in a chaotic Hungarian Grand Prix, as Lewis Hamilton vaulted back into the championship lead with a second-placed finish after Sebastian Vettel was disqualified.

The 24-year-old Ocon took the flag 1.8 seconds clear of Vettel, but the four-times world champion German was disqualified after his Aston Martin was found not to have enough fuel to provide the mandatory post-race sample.

Rules require cars to have at least a litre of fuel left in the tank at the end of a race to be extracted as a sample. But only 0.3 litres of fuel could be taken from Vettel's car.

As a result, Hamilton, who put in a stirring drive to recover from a strategic misstep that dropped him from first to last, moved up to second having very nearly caught Ocon and Vettel.

The Briton turned his eight-point deficit to Max Verstappen in the standings into an eight-point lead over the Dutchman, who finished 10th but was classified ninth following Vettel's disqualification.

The German's Aston Martin team said they intended to appeal the decision.

Sinckler cited

British & Irish Lions prop Kyle Sinckler has been cited for an alleged biting incident in the second test defeat to South Africa yesterday, on the same day fullback Stuart Hogg denied he had been involved in a similar incident.

British media reported the prop was alleged to have bitten South Africa second row Franco Mostert's arm during a ruck.

The Lions earlier released a statement in which Hogg denied he had bitten the arm of Springbok fullback Willie le Roux after pictures emerged on social media.

The tourists have subsequently cancelled media engagements for Monday and have not immediately responded to requests for comment from Reuters.

Saturday's ill-tempered second test, which was won 27-9 by the Boks to level the three-game series heading into Saturday's decider in Cape Town, had a number of flash points.

South Africa wing Cheslin Kolbe was fortunate to escape a red card when he connected with airborne Lions scrumhalf Conor Murray. He was sent to the sin-bin.

Images on social media also showed Lions lock Maro Itoje with his knee on the throat of stricken Bok centre Damian de Allende, while home scrumhalf Faf de Klerk got away with what appeared to be a dangerous 'no arms' tackle on Murray.

World Rugby have confirmed that, aside from Sinckler, no other players have been cited.

Milne impresses for Phoenix

New Zealand cricketers Adam Milne and Finn Allen have helped Birmingham Phoenix to a six wicket win over Trent Rockets in The Hundred tournament in England.

Milne took two wickets for 13 runs from his four overs as the Rockets made 144 for six.

Birmingham then reached their target with 26 balls to spare with opener Allen scoring 43 off 23 balls.

It was Trent's first loss while Birmingham are now two and two.

Devon Conway scored 22 in Southern Brave's four run win over the London Spirit.

Schauffele finally wins big

American Xander Schauffele held on despite a record-breaking round by Rory Sabbatini to win gold at the Olympics.

Schauffele rallied after a bogey on the par-5 14th hole to shoot a 4-under 67 to finish the tournament at 18-under 266.

Sabbatini, of Slovakia, fired an Olympic-record 10-under 61 but had to settle for a second-place finish one stroke behind Schauffele. The previous Olympic record was 63 and was matched multiple times this week.

Seven players finished regulation play tied for third at 15-under, but Chinese Taipei's CT Pan -- who shot 8-under 63 -- claimed the bronze medal after a four-hole playoff.

New Zealand's Ryan Fox finished tied for 42nd.... 13 shots from the winner.

Zverev finally takes global title

World number five Alexander Zverev won the biggest title of his career when he crushed Russian Karen Khachanov 6-3 6-1 to win the men's singles gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics.

The 24-year-old, who has yet to win a Grand Slam title, was in stunning form as he demolished Khachanov in 79 minutes to become the first German man to win a singles Olympic gold.

Zverev scored a rare win over world number one Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals.

Long criticised for his perceived mental weakness in big matches, including losing to Dominic Thiem in last year's U.S. Open final when he surrendered a two-set lead, Zverev proved the doubters wrong this time.

Zverev became only the second German to win Olympic singles gold, matching Steffi Graff's achievement at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

Germany also won Olympic gold in the doubles with Boris Becker and Michael Stich at the 1992 Barcelona Games.

India back at their best

India reached the semi-finals of the men's hockey tournament at the Olympics for the first time since 1980 thanks to a 3-1 win over Britain to set up a showdown with Belgium at the Tokyo Games.

Australia and Germany will contest the other semi-final.

India, who had won the last of their eight Olympic hockey gold medals at the 1980 Moscow Games, led 2-0 at halftime thanks to goals by Dilpreet Singh and Gurjant Singh. After conceding a goal in the 45th minute, India sealed the win when Hardik Singh made it 3-1 with just minutes left to play.

Belgium ended Spain's run with a 3-1 victory, including two goals from top-scorer Alexander Hendrickx.

Australia reached the semi-finals by beating the Netherlands in a penalty shootout in sizzling Tokyo heat, while Germany overcame Argentina.

The result meant the Dutch men's squad will not feature in the semi-finals of the Olympic hockey tournament for the first time since 1984.
