The women's Black Ferns sevens team have won a gold against France, 26-12.

The team won their semi-final clash 22-17 against Fiji this afternoon, after a try in extra time as the game was drawn 17-all at fulltime.

And the OlyWhites men's football team went further than any New Zealand team have before at the Olympics, pushing Japan into a penalty shoot-out in the quarterfinal. But the home team scored 4-2 to send the OlyWhites home.

Earlier, Dylan Schmidt won bronze in the final in the men's trampoline.

Schmidt qualified third for the men's trampoline finals and was the sixth to jump. Athletes each had one jump in the final.

Kiwi weightlifter Cameron McTaggart got 175kg over his head in the clean and jerk in the 81kg men's category, breaking his personal best of 170kg.

The Black Sticks have lost 3-2 to China in their hockey match, but have gone through to the quarter-finals on goal difference, while New Zealand's triathletes finished 12th in the inaugural Olympics mixed team relay

New Zealand athletes have also competed in golf, equestrian and sailing today.
