First Bledisloe Cup test will go ahead - NZR

6:34 pm on 26 July 2021

The first Bledisloe Cup match between the All Blacks and Australia will go ahead on August 7 at Eden Park, New Zealand Rugby confirmed today.

Details are unclear around the second Bledisloe Cup Test, currently scheduled for Wellington on August 28; and two Tests against Argentina - in Auckland on September 1 and Wellington on September 18.

Chris Lendrum, NZR's general manager of professional rugby and performance, said they were working with the government to finalise confirmation of a travel exemption for the Australians to travel to New Zealand this week.

He said contingency plans were progressing positively following last week's announcement of an eight-week pause of the trans-Tasman travel bubble.

"There are a lot of moving parts, but together with our Sanzaar partners a lot of people are working incredibly hard to ensure both competitions can progress in a way that's safe and fair," Lendrum said.

"Our decisions continue be guided by the advice of relevant Government and health authorities with the health and safety of our people at the forefront of any decisions."
