Argentina scored first through Marcos Moneta after two minutes, New Zealand countering through to Ngarohi McGarvey-Black and Sione Molia to lead at the break.
A Luciano Gonzalez try levelled the scores a minute into the second half, but New Zealand finished strongly through Joe Webber, Tim Mikkelson and William Warbrick to seal the win.
Earlier, the New Zealanders ran away with a commanding 50-5 win over South Korea in their opening game.
They scored six unanswered tries in the second-half after holding a slender 14-5 lead at halftime.
Earlier reigning Olympic champions Fiji edged Japan 24-19 in the opening match of pool play.
The All Blacks Sevens play their third and final pool match against Australia on Tuesday afternoon.
Top-10 finish for Meech
Laser sailor Sam Meech has recorded a much-needed top 10 finish in his third race of the Olympic regatta in Enoshima.

Meech, who took home bronze from the Rio Olympics, has bounced back from two 19th placings to come home eighth.
The result has seen him rise from 22nd to 17th in the 35 boat fleet.
A further three Laser races are scheduled for tomorrow.
Reigning Olympic 49er champions Peter Burling and Blair Tuke and Rio silver medallists Alex Maloney and Molly Meech also start their Olympic regattas tomorrow.
NZ doubles team throught to quarter-finals
Marcus Daniell and Michael Venus are through to the quarter-finals in the Olympic tennis tournament after their second-round Dutch opposition returned a positive Covid test.

Daniell and Venus haven't trained or travelled, or come into any form of close contact with the Dutch players so there are no changes to the New Zealand protocols.
They'll meet third-seeded Colombians Juan-Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah on Tuesday.
Tipple fades out of skeet
New Zealand shooter Chloe Tipple has finished second to last in the women's skeet at the Tokyo Olympics.

Tipple produced her best two rounds on the second day of qualification, but wasn't able to recover from a poor first day.
The 30-year-old scored 23 out of 25 in the fourth and fifth rounds after scores of 22, 18 and 22.
It left Tipple 27th out of 28 shooters with a total of 108, 12 targets adrift of making the final.
Chloe Tipple finished 13th in the women's skeet at the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
NZ surfers dip out
New Zealand surfers Billy Stairmand and Ella Williams have both lost their third-round heats in the Olympic shortboard competition.
Stairmand was comfortably beaten by 2019 world champion Italo Ferreira in their third round heat.
The Brazilian scored a two-wave tally of 15.54 points while Stairmand could only managed 9.67.
Williams was out-manoeuvred by Costa Rican Brisa Hennessy in their third round heat, managing 7.73 for her tally to Hennessy's 12.00.

The 70-Test veteran joined the Wallabies on the Gold Coast on Sunday evening just a few hours after Rennie had unveiled a 42-man squad -- that didn't include Cooper -- for the Bledisloe Cup, which at this stage is still to have its scheduled finalised, due to the new trans-Tasman travel restrictions.
