After sitting out the last four matches with a shoulder injury - Kane Williamson has all but been confirmed to return for the match in Mt Maunganui.
New Zealand are chasing a cleansweep of the ODI series having already assured themselves of the series as they head into Tuesday's game with a an unassailable 2-nil lead.
Williamson last played for the Black Caps in the third T20 in Hamilton on January where he scored 95 off just 48 balls but suffered the shoulder injury while fielding.
New Zealand and India play a three match test series after the ODI series with the first test in Wellington starting on Friday week.
Reid's move to MLS still on the cards

Last week Moyes Reid was on the move - reportedly to new expansion side Nashville, but that has stalled and he has remained in London.
However Reid could still head across the Atlantic with Moyes now saying Reid while the initial move was off another club appears interested.
"The club he was due to go to is off but I think there might be somewhere else for him.
Reid hasn't played a competitive game for the Hammers in nearly two years after a succession of knee injuries.
Papali'i named Warriors captain
The Warriors rugby league team has offered a potential glimpse to the future - naming young forward Isaiah Papali'i captain for this weekend's NRL Nines in Perth.

The 21-year-old is one of a handful of the club's experienced NRL players to feature in the Warriors squad for the event.

Wimbledon champion escapes doping ban
Colombia's Wimbledon and U.S. Open doubles champion Robert Farah has escaped a doping ban after an investigation accepted his claim that he ingested a banned steroid through contaminated beef cooked by his mother.
The 33-year-old was found in breach of Tennis Anti-Doping rules after a urine sample provided in October was shown to contain low concentrations of Boldenova an anabolic steroid banned by the World Anti Doping Agency (WADA).

An intentional doping violation can carry a four-year ban but the International Tennis Federation said there was no 'fault or negligence' attached to the world number one.
Farah pulled out of the recent Australian Open for personal reasons before announcing the failed anti-doping test.
During the investigation Farah claimed he had eaten beef the night before the test at his mother's house in Cali and that it had contained residue of boldenone injected into the cow as a growth promoter prior to slaughter.
He insisted he had "no intention of trying to cheat" and that he did know that eating the beef could result in an anti-doping rule violation.
The ITF confirmed that Farah had been tested 10 times between March and October in 2019, all negative.

McIIroy back in top spot
Rory McIlroy has returned to the top of golf's rankings for the first time in five years after a string of strong finishes.
The 30-year-old Northern Irishman, a four-time major winner, replaces American Brooks Koepka.
McIlroy was tied third at the Farmers Insurance Open last month and was fourth at the World Tour Championships in Dubai in November, following his victory at the WGC-HSBC Champions.

His rise back to the top of golf's official world rankings, which uses a rolling two-year points format, means McIlroy will move into fourth place in total time spent as number one.
This will be his 96th week there, behind only Tiger Woods (683), Greg Norman (331) an fellow Briton Nick Faldo (97).
McIlroy has ended only one of the last 11 years outside the top 10 but has not added to his majors haul since winning the PGA Championship in 2014.
Koepka slips down to number two with Spaniard Jon Rahm at three.
Danny Lee is the best placed New Zealander at 103rd.

Tottenham player apologises over coronavirus comments
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli has apologised for a post on social media about coronavirus, saying "I let myself down and the club".
Alli, 23, put a video on Snapchat in which he joked about the outbreak and appeared to mock an Asian man.

He later deleted the post and then released a new video on Chinese social media platform Weibo to apologise.
The coronavirus outbreak has led to more than 900 deaths in China, with over 40,000 cases reported worldwide.
Meanwhile A 12-year-old boy has been charged in connection with racist chants against Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos.
Police launched an investigation following allegations of abuse during the Scottish Premiership football match with Celtic in late December.
