New Zealand's junior women's four have won the world championship title with a dominant row at the World Junior Rowing Championships in the Czech Republic.

The crew - Beatrix Heaphy-Hall, Jennifer Storey, Grace Prendergast and Eve Macfarlane - took the gold after finishing less than a second ahead of the American crew, who in turn were less than a second ahead of the Australians and the Germans.

It was the first gold medal of the regatta for the New Zealand team, after illness affected the camp this weekend.

New Zealand has two more chances for medals after the junior men's four and the junior men's quad also secured starting places for A finals, but the double scull of Oliver Behrent and Sean Watts could only make the B final.
