The English rugby league club Castleford have been fined nearly 90-thousand dollars for homophobic chanting by their fans.

The chants during a Super League match in March were directed at Celtic Crusaders winger Gareth Thomas, the former Wales rugby captain who revealed last year that he was gay.

Castleford are likely to appeal against the decision, claiming it's not supported by evidence.
