Football Ferns midfielder Emma Rolston has signed a deal with top-flight German club side MSV Duisburg in the Frauen Bundesliga, one of the best women's football leagues in the world.

The 21-year-old, who made her New Zealand debut against Scotland earlier this year, joins three Football Ferns teammates currently playing in the Frauen Bundesliga.

Defender CJ Bott plays for USV Jena while Amber Hearn and Meikayla Moore turn out for FC Koln.

Rolston makes the move to Europe after a season with Sydney FC in the Australian W-League, and says she's looking forward to the challenge.

"I'm getting pretty excited to begin the journey and see what's ahead of me," she said.

"It's great to be thrown in at the deep end, you have to learn how to swim and I'm excited to see how it goes."

Rolston will also be part of the Football Ferns squad set to meet 2011 World Cup winners Japan in Wellington next month, the first time in three years the New Zealand women have played on home soil.
