8:37 am on 4 April 2010

New Super rugby franchise Melbourne Rebels have announced the signing of three backline players in Sam Cordingley, Tim Davidson and Peter Betham.

Former Queensland Reds halfback Cordingley will return to Australia from France and will be well known to Rebels coach Rod Macqueen, who gave him his Wallabies debut in 2000.

Davidson, who has played for the Western Force and the Waratahs, will reunite with his coach from Sydney University at the Rebels, Damien Hill being Macqueen's assistant.

And Betham joins from the Waratahs with Hill calling him of the most dynamic and athletic young backs in Australian rugby.
