Blair and Beale tipped to join Warriors

Veteran Brisbane prop Adam Blair has been tipped with Cronulla's Gerard Beale to make a lucrative move to the Warriors.

Brisbane Broncos fans will miss Adam Blair against Cronulla but he will be available for the Kiwis against the Kangaroos.

31 year old Blair has been named Broncos captain for Friday night's NRL qualifying final against Sydney Roosters, stepping up for the injured Darius Boyd.

Blair may yet hold the reins deep into Brisbane's title tilt with fullback Boyd no guarantee of returning from a hamstring complaint next week.

However, the lead-up to the blockbuster looks set to be sidetracked by speculation on Blair's future after reports he had signed a lucrative four-year Warriors deal and would join Beale across the ditch next year.

Blair said that he had put contract talks on hold.

"The most important thing is to focus on footy at the moment," he said.

"It (contract talks) is lingering around but I have put it aside at the moment.

"It will get sorted hopefully soon."

Contracted until the end of the 2018 season, Blair was last month given permission by Brisbane to negotiate with rival clubs for an early release with St George Illawarra and Newcastle touted as interested parties.

Asked if he could be playing his final games for Brisbane, Blair said: "I just want to play my part for the team, doing everything I can to win a game for Brisbane.

"But it (contract talks) has been hard, a big decision has to come from it.

"I am just trying to enjoy what is left here, if things change after this."

The Warriors are desperate to rejuvenate their playing squad after missing the finals the past six seasons.

In the meantime Brisbane will lean heavily on Blair as he steps up for not only injured skipper Boyd but also injured prop Korbin Sims (broken arm) in the NRL finals.

"It would be a great honour and achievement to captain the Broncos in such a big match," Blair said.
