Unchanged Blues team for Origin Two

New South Wales have picked their first unchanged State of Origin line-up in 21 years as they aim to clinch the series in game two next week.

Just hours after Queensland made a whopping seven changes to their team for the Sydney encounter, the Blues announced their game-one team would gather.

"It's great to be able to name the same 17 guys again. They did such a great job in game one. But the key for us is to try and repeat that performance," Blues coach Laurie Daley said.

Brett Morris, Josh Dugan, Josh Jackson, Tyson Frizell and David Klemmer were all named after coming through Monday's NRL clash between St George Illawarra and Canterbury unscathed.

Boyd Cordner will again captain the side despite being rested for Sunday's match for the Sydney Roosters due to a knee issue, however the injury isn't considered serious.

Frizell, who suffered a rib injury in the Dragons' win over the Wests Tigers last week, revealed post-game that he took two painkilling injections to play his 60 minutes against the Bulldogs.

And he is likely to need another jab for Origin II.

"It didn't work yesterday. I had a jab yesterday and it didn't really work, but it kind of hit the spot I think today," he said.

Pressed on whether he would need another dose next Wednesday, he said: "Yeah."

"I was pretty close to not playing (against Canterbury). I hadn't done any contact or anything through the whole week, and they left it up to me whether I felt like I was right to play.

"I'd say I'd be pretty sore tomorrow."

Daley admitted the Blues' preparation is likely to be shortened because of the Canterbury-St George Illawarra game on Monday.

"We've had to tinker with our training a little bit given a number of our guys (played) on Monday. We won't start our training until later in the week," he said.

"We need to give those guys time to recover - that knocked us around a bit.

"Whereas most of the Queensland players finished up on Saturday so they've had two extra days preparation in terms of recovery. That's massive these days."

Frizell's inclusion ensured the Blues' team was the first since a Brad Fittler- led side swept the Maroons in 1991 that NSW have enjoyed the luxury of not needing to alter their team.

That year, the Blues didn't make a change for the entire campaign.

In the only alteration to the squad, Manly star Tom Trbojevic will join the Blues camp at The Star in Sydney as the 18th man in place of injured Melbourne prop Jordan McLean.

The Blues gather in Sydney on Tuesday morning.
