Bozzone breaks Ironman WA record

New Zealand triathlete Terenzo Bozzone has broken the men's course record at Ironman Western Australia.

Two months after he failed to finish at the Hawaiian Ironman world championships, Bozzone returned to form with a resounding win.

He finished the 3.8km ocean swim, 180km cycle and 42.2km marathon run in 7:51::27 seconds, smashing the men's record of 7:55:57 - set last year by Australian Luke McKenzie - by four and a half minutes.

It was also Bozzone's Ironman WA debut.

American Andy Potts was second in 7:55:11 and Australian Nick Kastelein crossed the line third in 8:05:23.

Australian Melissa Hauschildt also broke the women's course record at the Ironman, which had been set by New Zealand's Britta Martin two years ago.
