Injuries to key players within the Breakers line up could derail their new basketball season before it has even begun.

The Breakers three best scorers; Corey Webster, Kirk Penny and Tom Abercrombie are all injured following their three-game pre-season series against the Brisbane Bullets last week.

Henare admits their injuries have stymied his team's preparations for the Australian Basketball season which tips off on October 7.

"It does come into your mind but then you think 'what are you going to do?' It is what it is and you just carry on.

"We just work with what we have and continue to try and get these guys healthy and if we do get a run on court it'll be a fun day."

While losing all three of their pre-season games against his old boss Andrej Lemanis might be a cause for concern, Henare isn't reading too much into it.

"Obviously numbers were down a little bit but what the team is based on in the offensive system and structure is based on a lot of Corey, Kirk and Tom being on the floor. Without those three guys it changes things.

Henare said at this stage Abercrombie is likely to be back in time for the opening match but he's uncertain whether Webster, Penny will be ready.
