Ko started the day four shots off the lead and fired a final round four under par 68 to climb two places.

Caroline Masson of Germany won her maiden title with a one-stroke victory.

Ko and Thailand's Ariya Jutanugarn both finished two shots from the winner to preserve their placings of first and second in the world rankings.

Ko has now been number one for 45 weeks.

The best players now head to France for the last major of the year, the Evian Championship, where Ko is the defending champion.

It starts on Friday (NZ time).
