New Zealand batsmen disappointed with start in test

5:59 am on 16 February 2010

The New Zealand batsman Peter Ingram summed up the feelings of the rest of his side as they're disappointed they all made starts but failed to go on on the first day of the one-off test against Bangladesh in Hamilton.

After being asked to bat first New Zealand are 285 for 5 thanks to Martin Guptill and Brendan McCullum putting on an unbeaten century partnership for the 6th wicket.

Debutant Ingram says the conditions weren't too bad to bat on and he felt he just made a bad decision when he holed out for 42 while trying to hook.

Ingram says a total of 400 to 450 is possible on day two.

The Bangladeshi batsman Mohammed Ashrafal says they were happy with their start, but admits New Zealand finished the day on top... he's hoping they can get a few early wickets today.

Play will start earlier today at 11:30 with Martin Guptil on 80 and Brendan McCullum on 58.
