The Russian top seed Elena Dementieva has beaten compatriot Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova to reach the quarter-finals of the WTA Paris Indoor tennis open.
Dementieva, a second-round casualty at the Australian Open, won 6-4 6-4 and will be was joined in the last eight by the Italian second seed Flavia Pennetta, who beat Russia's Alisa Kleybanova 7-6 6-1.
Tathiana Garbin followed her compatriot Pennetta into the quarter-finals after downing the eighth-seeded Russian Elena Vesnina in three sets.
Earlier the Croatian wild card Petra Martic ousted the third seed Yanina Wickmayer of Belgian in three sets and will play Hungary's Agnes Szavay .
And the the French fifth seed Aravane Rezai will play Germany's Andrea Petkovic following a straight sets win over the Russian qualifier Evgeniya Rodina.
