New Zealand tennis number one Marina Erakovic has been dumped out of the singles at the Auckland Classic, though she eased the pain of her exit by staying alive in the doubles.

Erakovic was beaten 7-6, 6-3 by Romania's Alexandra Dulgheru in her second round match last night.
She and her Spanish partner Silvia Soler-Espinosa then beat the second seeded combination of Julia Goerges (Germany) and Katarina Srebotnik (Slovenia) in three sets to advance to the doubles semi-finals.
Erakovic and Soler-Espinosa play their semi final on Friday, against either the Belgian duo of Elise Mertens and An-Sophie Mestach or Maria Irigoyen and Barbora Krejcikova.
Yesterday was another day to forget for organisers of the tournament.
Erakovic demise adds to the growing list of fan favourites who have exited early from the tournament, earlier today Russian fourth seed, Svetlana Kuznetsova, was beaten in her second round match and seventh seed, Babora Strycova, was also beaten in straight sets.
Top seeds Venus Williams and Ana Ivanovic were surprisingly beaten in their first round matches on Tuesday.
Third seed Wozniacki is one of only two seeds to reach the last eight of the tournament, after crushing American Cristina McHale 6-love 6-2 last night.
Wozniacki will play Dulgheru in tonight's quarter-finals, while the other remaining seed, fifth seed American Sloane Stephens will face off against British qualifier Naomi Broady.
Broady beat 18-year-old Latvian Jelena Ostapenko in her second round match.
Also making it through to the top eight are Japan's Nao Hibino, Germany's Julia Goerges, Austrian young gun Tamira Paszek and Belgium's Kirsten Flipkens.
