T20 women to start big finals weekend

12:37 pm on 29 January 2010

There's a double header of Twenty20 cricket finals action this weekend with the women's final between the Auckland Hearts and the Central Hinds on Saturday, 24 hours before their male counterparts square off in the men's national final.

The Auckland women's coach Maia Lewis says there's been some batting inconsistency in the one-dayers, but her side have fared better in the shortest version of the game.

Lewis puts that down to the team concentrating on reducing non-scoring dot balls and getting one and two runs when available.

The Hearts go into the Twenty20 final as underdogs, with the Hinds' Rachel Priest, Aimee Watkins and Sara McGlashan all capable of putting the ball over the fence.

But Lewis says her team will give it their best shot.
