The world No.1, who started the day in outright second, carded a 3-under par 69 to move to 11-under for the tournament, two shots behind joint leaders South Korea's Ha-Na Jang and American Cristie Kerr.

Ko remains on track to clinch the LPGA Player of the Year award, the money list title - and retain her top ranking.

The 18-year-old coming off her first major title earlier this year in France, is battling South Korea's second-ranked Inbee Park for the key awards in this season-ending showdown.

Park is tied for 8th following a third round 5-under par 67, which moved her to 9-under for the tournament, two shots behind Ko and four shots off the pace.

Ko is in pole position to clinch the LPGA Player of the Year award, the money list title and retain her No.1 ranking while Park has a slight edge in the chase for the coveted Vare Trophy for best scoring average this season.

Kerr carded a 6-under par 66 to move to 13-under for the tournament, joint level with overnight leader Jang, who shot a third round 3-under par 69 alongside Ko.
