The Kiwis have let a 10-point lead slip away to be beaten 26-12 by England in the first rugby league test in Hull.

Tohu Harris and Sam Moa scored tries early in the game before New Zealand then conceded two tries, with the teams as they went going to the break level at 12-all.

The Kiwis could feel unlucky after they had a try ruled out for interference, while the English scored a try off a forward pass.

England then scored two second-half tries to secure the win.

The convincing loss - and the second-half shutout in particular - left coach Stephen Kearney and his Kiwis outfit with plenty of work to do as the series moves on to London for the second test next weekend.

The third test is in Wigan a week later.
