The Black Caps have had a tough day in the field in their second hit-out on their tour of Australia against a Cricket Australia XI.

The Black Caps lost the toss and were sent out to field as the Cricket Australia XI ended the first day of a two-day warm-up match in Canberra 325 for four, with Usman Khawaja top-scoring with an unbeaten 111.

Joe Burns also got a century and was one of two Australian batsman to voluntarily retire, rather than carry on batting, in order to give their team-mates a bat.

So the tourists only really got two wickets, with one each going to Mark Craig and Doug Bracewell.
