Goals and red cards abound in NZFC

New Zealand Football Championship leaders Waitakere United have suffered a 4-nil defeat by Canterbury in Christchurch.

The home side led 1-0 at half time, while Waitakere weren't helped by having Roy Krishna sent off midway through the second half.

Champions Auckland have gone top on goal difference after beating Otago 5-0 in Auckland. It was nil-all at half time with the home side missing a number of scoring chances, but they didn't make any mistake in the second half.

Wellington have moved ahead of Otago into third place after beating Manawatu 2-0 in Palmerston North. Manawatu had a player sent off just before the break.

Hawke's Bay beat bottom of the table Waikato 3-0 in Napier with the visitors having two players sent off.

Auckland and Waikato have 16 points, Wellington 12, Canterbury 11, Otago and Manawatu 10, Hawke's Bay eight and Waikato three.
