Auckland scored 10 tries to 3 and led 35-nil at half time.

Canterbury are top of the table after beating Tasman 41-25 in Nelson on Saturday to clinch a home semi-final, and home advantage in the final, should they make it that far.

Auckland are just behind the Cantabrians and are in the box seat to grab the other home semi-final with just one round remaining.

Defending champions Taranaki are also into the playoffs and up to third, above Tasman, after beating Manawatu 44-10 in Palmerston North.

Manawatu are bottom of the Premiership and two points behind Waikato, with the provinces the only two now possible relegation candidates with one game remaining.

Waikato visit Hawke's Bay for a Ranfurly Shield challenge on Friday, while the Turbos play Wellington in their final fixture on Saturday.
