Breakers beaten again

Another fourth quarter meltdown has seen the New Zealand Breakers move to the brink of elimination from the Australian National Basketball League play-off picture.

The Breakers led by 15 during the last quarter before their shooting form deserted them and they lost 94-89 to the Melbourne Tigers on the North Shore, leaving them sixth on the table.

The result means the Breakers, who were tipped as title contenders at the start of the season, have to win five of their remaining six matches to have any chance of making the play-offs.

Tony Ronaldson scored 27 for the Breakers and Kirk Penney made 22.
