The Highlanders Super Rugby coach Jamie Joseph says he's been impressed with the form of Ma'a Nonu now that he's back playing with the Hurricanes.

After an apparrent falling out with previous Hurricanes coach Mark Hammett, Nonu left to spend time with the Blues and Highlanders before returning home to Wellington this year.

The Highlanders and Hurricanes meet in Dunedin tonight with Joseph saying this is their biggest challenge to date.

Joseph, who use to coach the Wellington Lions, says the Hurricanes have changed the way they play and it appears to be helping the All Black midfielder...

"Ma'a Nonu's originally from Wellington and it looks like he's playing with something to play for, first time I've seen that in a long time at Super Rugby level."

"They (the Hurricanes) look really structured, really organised so I feel they're a different side and really improved since previous years."

"They have loads of All Blacks and in form All Blacks I'd have to say as well."

The two sides are at even odds to win.
