Veteran Black Caps bowler Daniel Vettori says he's not surprised specialist coach Shane Bond has been head-hunted by an Indian Premier league team.

Bond announced yesterday that he would be stepping down as New Zealand bowling coach following the upcoming Cricket World Cup.

He will instead take up a job with the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League as bowling coach, alongside the head coach, former Australian captain Ricky Ponting.

Daniel Vettori, who's rejoined the side as they begin a seven one-day series against Sri Lanka tomorrow, says it's a sign of the success of the New Zealand side at the moment.

"I think those opportunities are there now for guys because the team's playing so well and the fast bowling unit's obviously been fantastic so guys like Shane and Craig [McMillan] are going to get targetted by these big IPL teams. So I think it's a great honour for him and a great opportunity and obviously because he's done so well with this group people are looking."

Meanwhile Vettori says the test match confidence has found its way into the one day team.

He says compared to his previous four World Cups where there's been some trepidation heading into it, this squad feels ready for it.
