The football legend Pele has been taken to hospital in Brazil with a stomach ailment days out from his scheduled trip to Australia.
The 74-year-old Pele was admitted to Sao Paulo's Albert Einstein hospital as a precaution, missing an event at the museum honouring his career in the southeastern city of Santos.
A long time friend and aide, Jose Fornos Rodrigues, says Pele had an upset stomach and was taken to the hospital for tests. But he is calm, and feeling okay.
Medical staff have not said when he will be able to leave.
Pele is scheduled to make two public appearances at lunches in Australia next week in Melbourne on Wednesday and Sydney on Thursday.
