The New Zealand golfer Tim Wilkinson has dropped down from a share of the lead after his opening round to a share of fourth heading into the weekend at the PGA Tour's Barracuda championship in Nevada.

Wilkinson fired a second round 71. Compatriot Danny Lee also slipped down the leaderboard after a 72, falling from a tie for 14th to equal 23rd.

The scoring system for the $3.5 million tournament is stableford, a points system which rewards shots under par, and penalises shots over par.

The Nevada tournament is being played alongside the $10.6 million Bridgestone Invitational, a World Golf Championship series event, in Akron, Ohio.
