The New Zealand Under 20 men's rugby side has been dealt a blow with captain and first-five Simon Hickey out for the remainder of the Junior World Championship.

Hickey came off in the second half of New Zealand's final pool match against Scotland in Pukekohe on Tuesday.

The Junior All Blacks won 54-7, and booked themselves a place in the Junior World Championship semi-finals.

The New Zealand Under 20 Coach Chris Boyd says Hickey suffered a high ankle sprain that will keep him out of action for approximately 4-6 weeks.

Tasman 19-year-old David Havili has been called in as a replacement.

The former Nelson College student was part of the national Under 20 programme through to the selection camp.

Havili is a utility back who can cover first five-eighth, wing and fullback.

The Junior All Blacks face South Africa at North Harbour Stadium on Sunday for a place in the final.
