The Manchester United manager David Moyes has left the club less than 12 months into his six year contract.
Moyes was hired last July to replace Sir Alex Ferguson who retired at the end of last season after 26 years in the job.
Announcing the departure in a brief statement, the club thanked the 50-year-old Scot for the hard work, honesty and integrity he brought to the role.
Veteran midfielder Ryan Giggs, who has been working as one of Moyes's assistants, could be put in charge for the final four games of the season.
The club are currently seventh in the Premiership and have missed out on a place in the Champions league for the first time in 18 years.
Moyes was previously in charge of Everton for 11 seasons without winning a trophy,
