Man City bounce back from derby defeat

7:07 pm on 29 September 2009

Manchester City got back to winning ways in English Premier League football, when two goals by Carlos Tevez inspired a 3-1 home victory over the Argentine's former club West Ham United.

Tevez, whose goals helped West Ham avoid relegation in 2007 before he moved to Manchester United, scored after five and 61 minutes as City completed a deserved win.

There was also a welcome debut for City striker Roque Santa Cruz, bought for seventeen point five million pounds from Blackburn Rovers, who came on 10 minutes from the end but couldn't convert the once decent chance he got.

City's win moves them up to fifth spot on the table, alongside Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, while West Ham remained third-last with four points from six games.
