New Zealand has recorded one of its best days at the Winter Olympics, but unfortunetly it didn't result in any medals.

The Wanaka freestyle skier Jossi Wells finished 4th in the halfpipe at the Sochi Games, while his brother Beau James was 6th.

Jossi Wells was third after his first run, but was unable to improve in his second and was overtaken for a medal.

It is New Zealand's best finish at a Winter Olympics, since alpine skier Annelise Coberger's silver medal in 1992.

Another New Zealander Lyndon Sheehan was 9th in the halfpipe.

Speedskater Shane Dobbin finished 7th in the men's 10km race.
