The French skier Martin Fourcade has taken gold in the biathlon 12.5 kilometres pursuit, as Ole Einar Bjoerndalen of Norway failed to break the record for most Winter Olympics medals won.

Fourcade finished 14 seconds ahead of the Czech Republic's Ondrej Moravec, who took silver, with Jean Guillaume Beatrix of France claiming bronze.

Bjoerndalen missed a historic 13th medal, finishing fourth, but gets another chance in the men's relay.
