New Zealand to face Canada in Wellington Sevens quarters

7:13 am on 8 February 2014

New Zealand have ended day one of the Wellington Sevens on a much brighter note than the way they started, beating France 47-0 in their final pool game to set up today's quarter-final clash with Canada.

The hosts finished second in their group, following a shock 12-7 loss to Fiji in their opening pool game.

The All Blacks Sevens had to win their last two pool games after the defeat, which they did, also over-running Spain 55-0.

Fiji topped pool B after going through day one unbeaten.

Sevens world series leaders South Africa will face Australia in the quarter- finals, the defending champions England will play Samoa, and Fiji will play Argentina.

The action kicks off at 1pm, with New Zealand's quarter-final just before 3pm.
