The German sportswear company Puma has taken over from Nike as the kit supplier to English Premier League football club Arsenal from next season.

Nike has provided Arsenal's gear for the past 20 years, but the London club has signed a deal with Puma worth more than 60 million dollars a year to the Premier League leaders.

Puma, which supplies kit to German soccer club Borussia Dortmund and national teams including Italy, says it's aiming to establish itself as the clear number-three football brand behind market leaders Adidas and Nike.

Puma has also acquired the rights to produce other branded Arsenal merchandise that will be sold to fans around the world.

Nike remain the kit suppliers to Manchester United and Manchester City.
