Wales captain abused for staying at home

The agent representing Wales' rugby captain Sam Warburton claims his client has been abused for signing a central contract with his national union, even though he could have been paid twice as much by moving to France.

The 25 year old flanker, who led the British and Irish Lions to victory over Australia last year, became the first player to sign up with the Wales Rugby Union over the weekend, and his central contract means he can be loaned back to his Cardiff club at no cost when he's not needed for international duty.

Warburton decided to remain in Wales because of his affection for his Cardiff club and the national captaincy.

Welsh rugby is in crisis due to a fallout between the regions and the Welsh rugby Union.
