Melbourne's been selected as Australia's sole contender for inclusion in the expanded Super rugby competition.
Australia's vying with New Zealand and South Africa for the right to host the new franchise when the competition expands to 15 teams from 14 in 2011.
Taranaki have indicated they're keen to be the 15th side with Hawkes Bay, who'd also expressed an interest, having announced last week they'er pulling out of the race.
The deadline for formal bids will close in September with the new franchsie expected to be announced in October.
