There's disappointment throughout the motor racing world following Michael Schumacher's decision to abandon plans for a temporary comeback to Formula One.
The 40-year-old seven-times world champion, who retired three years ago, had been primed to replace the injured Felipe Massa in the Ferrari team for the European Grand Prix in Spain later this month. But medical tests have shown he hasn't fully recovered from a neck injury suffered in a motorcycle accident six months ago.
Schumacher says he tried everything to make his comeback possible, but right now his neck wouldn't stand the extreme stress of formula one racing.
Ferrari have announced that their experienced test driver Luca Badoer will be Felipe Massa's stand-in.
The 38 year old Italian has competed in five grands prix, most recently ten years ago.
