Mosley says boxing in Australia like the mafia days

The three-time former world champion American Shane Mosley says he won't be returning to Australia to fight Anthony Mundine, saying the country's boxing scene is behind the times - almost like the mafia days.

Mosley flew back to the United States earlier this week walking out on a scheduled fight with Mundine in Sydney, claiming a breach of contract by promoter claiming he failed to pay the remainder of his $1 million purse in advance.

Mosley says the promoter was contractually obliged to pay $700,000 10 days before he entered the ring but has told the boxing website fighthype.com that even up until the weigh-in the day before the fight, the money wasn't forthcoming.

Mundine has indicated he may go to the United States in a bid to resurrect the fight, which Mosley says he's open to.
