Australia has registered its first win of this year's Rugby Championship by narrowly beating Argentina 14-13 last night in Perth.

Argentina was the first to hit the scoreboard with an eighth-minute penalty, before fullback Israel Folau scored a try to give the Wallabies a 14-3 lead at half-time

Argentina landed another penalty in the second half before Juan Manuel Leguizamon ran in a converted try to get within one, but Australia held out the visitors for the crucial victory.

Stand-in skipper Ben Mowen said the win would prove crucial to the Wallabies' future as it would inspire confidence in the players and the public.
