Leanne de Bruin staying with Magic

The Silver Ferns defender Leana de Bruin has re-signed with the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic for another two netball seasons.

De Bruin rejoined the Magic in 2012 after a stint with Southern Steel, and the 36-year-old veteran won the trans-Tasman title that year with the Magic.

The Magic lost shooter Irene van Dyk and midcourter Laura Langman following this season's fourth place finish.

The new Magic coaching staff of Julie Fitzgerald and Margaret Forsyth have also signed teenagers Brooke Leaver and Samantha Sinclair.

Willowy shooter Leaver comes from a strong sporting pedigree, following in the footsteps of her mother Leonie, a former Silver Ferns shooter, while father Brett played hockey for New Zealand.

Fellow Waikato/Bay of Plenty under-23 team member and Rotorua schoolgirl Sinclair is a midcourter who played her way into contention with a string of impressive performances at the national under-23 championships.
