The Australian cricket team might be on the verge of an unwelcome piece of history, but skipper Michael Clarke insists he won't be jumping ship.
On the eve of the third Ashes test against England in Manchester, and after six straight test match losses, Clarke has dismissed outright suggestions of a premature retirement.
The 32-year-old has suffered since his teenage years from degenerative discs in his lower back, and the injury forced him to miss a match in March, ending a run of 92 consecutive test match appearances.
The only member of the current squad to have played a test at Old Traffford, Clarke says he's determined to lead the side out of the mire and back to a position of eminence.
