The Waikato swimmer Matthew Stanley is the first New Zealander to qualify for a final at the World short Course Championships in Turkey.
The 20 year old set a personal best time in recording the fourth fastest time in the heats of the 200 freestyle.
Top qualifier was double Olympic gold medallist and world champion, Ryan Lochte of the United States.
